Music lovers and philanthropists had a night to remember at the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Grand Ball held at the State House Banquet Hall in Accra when they were served a heady mix of exciting entertainment while they supported the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF) of MUSIGA.

Three honorees also received the Music Pillar Award for their support for the music industry in Ghana. They are Betty Mould-Iddrissu a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Edward Boateng, CEO of Global Media Alliance and DrKwabenaAdjei, CEO of Kasapreko Ltd. Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Engineers and Planners will be presented with his award at a later date.

An amount of GHC 32,000.00 was raised from the auction of various items including a number of musical instruments likePK Yamoah’s guitar, AB Crentsil’sdondo and Rev. KusiBerko’s accordion.

The night saw performances by Wiyaala, who was in a virtual dancing competition with the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, MaaAmanua of Wulomei fame, Bob Pinodo and AbrantieAmakyeDede. Other performers were Tagoe Sisters, Pozo Hayes and comedian DKB.

This year’s event is the fourth edition of the MUSIGA Grand Ball which brings together captains of industry and leaders of society for a night of entertainment and philanthropy. The Grand Ball supports AMWeF, a fund established by MUSIGA to support musicians who are aged over sixty years and incapacitated musicians. This year’s event was also in support of MUSIGA’s Peace campaign which is supported by STAR-Ghana and Midland Savings and Loans.
