DStv’s new channel, HONEY (channel 173) parades a great line-up of lifestyle content showcasing African life and culture. With shows from all over the African continent, Nigerian media personalities are shining through and are featured in some of the biggest shows.

Here’s a list of the faces and bold voices that highlight the best of Nigerian culture, originality and talent!

The Buzz
Pearl Umeh: The talk show host best describes her personality as Fire, Water and Sugar and going by her views on Honey’s new talk show The Buzz she is definitely bringing the heat. Although she is making her TV debut, she does not shy away from speaking her mind. Along with South Africa’s talk show queen Anele Mdoda, Pearl discusses a variety of topics with her co-hosts Rachel Wakesho from Kenya, Zanna Katoka from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Davina Mavuwa from Zimbabwe. The Buzz covers a wide range of topics, some of which are likely to elicit strong reactions from viewers.

Pearl bagged her Bachelor’s degree from Madonna University Okija. and a Masters’ degree in Human and Risk Management from the University of East London. She previously worked at PAL Pensions in Lagos before moving to South Africa in 2018. She is a beauty enthusiast and wife.

Adeola Da-Costa Ayo: Adeola Da-Costa Ayo moved to South Africa from Nigeria about ten years ago to join her husband, the jazz musician turned gospel minister, Kunle Ayo. The forty-five-year-old is known for her outspokenness and appears brash or aloof, but according to her “That’s just me. I’m very guarded. I don’t let just anyone into my life. I don’t mince my words, to be blunt, I won’t try to kiss your butt and be nice for the sake of it. When you first meet me, you’ll think I’m very hard, but once you get to know me, you’ll see my softer side. You either like me or you don’t…”

Although she is on the show Pastors’ Wives’, Adeola does not consider herself as a pastor’s wife and is focused on building her restaurant BLD African Cookhouse, which specializes in Nigerian and fusion dishes.

When she is not ministering or supporting her husband’s ministry, the Nigerian born singer is the voice of reason on Honey’s reality tv show, Pastors’ Wives’.

Precious Omoregie: Precious Omoregie might be a lawyer, but the beauty influencer, youtuber and model believes she has what it takes to become Africa’s biggest celebrity. On The Next Big Trender, Precious and five other contestants from across Africa will be competing to win a spot as a star on Honey’s TV show.
