Speaking in an interview, the final year nursing student of the University for Development studies Tamale, explained her vision and plans as the Miss Commonwealth culture.

According to her empowering women has always been her aim and in her interest to do so she organizes seminars which will enable women develop vocational skills.

‘’ As a beauty queen, empowering woman has always been my ultimate goal which is one of the Sustainable development Goal three (3). In Africa and Ghana, woman are not given equal opportunities to take part in decision making, it is believed the place of the woman is the kitchen. In my interest to empower women, I organized seminars where most women where trained on vocational skills such as beads making, Shea-butter making and encouraged to take up leadership positions in the society and the country as a whole.

She said that getting financial assistance to embark on her projects is a difficult thing to have and will urge individuals and corporate bodies to support her initiative.

‘’ The most challenged I faced as a queen is a financial assistance to embark on my projects. It’s hard to get support from individuals and organizations for some of the projects I have lined up. But, I’m still pushing hard for some.’’

In her quest to be the Miss Commonwealth International she is encouraging Ghanaians to support her as she represents Ghana in the United Kingdom.

‘’I urge all Ghanaians, my fans to give me their full support as I represent Ghana in the United Kingdom. I am assuring them that I will give out my best to make Ghana proud’’ she said.

Sophia kuyoli Isolemo is my name, I am 24 years old and the current Miss Commonwealth culture of Ghana. A final year nursing student of the University for Development studies Tamale. I participated in miss earth pageant last year (2016) where I emerged 4th runner-up. Through prayer, hard work and perseverance, today, I am Miss Commonwealth Culture.

What have you achieved as a queen since you won the pageantry?

As a beauty queen, empowering woman has always been my ultimate goal which is one of the Sustainable development Goal three (3).

What challenges are you faced with as a queen?

The most challenged I faced as a queen is financial assistance to embark on my projects. It’s hard to get support from individuals and organizations for some of the projects I have lined up. But, I’m still pushing hard for some.

As Miss Commonwealth culture, what can you tell about international pageant itself (where it is happening and how prepared are you to represent Ghana)

Miss Commonwealth pageant is an international pageant through which we achieve the commonwealth goals through beauty.

As miss commonwealth culture, it is my responsibility to showcase the rich culture heritage of Ghana on the international stage, the unique culture of Ghana which has united us through ages. Our foods, dances and taboos. Welcome to Ghana where symbols are sense of common identity and destiny. The most important is the black star which evokes the black pride and power and commitment to pan-African unity, which were central themes against British rule. Other important symbols derive from the Akan tradition that have become incorporated into the national culture. This includes the ceremonial sword, the linguist’s staff, the chief stool and the talking drum. The Ghanaian national dress, Kente and smock cloth is another source of common identity and pride.

What do you expect from Ghanaians and how do we support you during the contest.

I urge all Ghanaians, my fans to give me their full support as I represent Ghana in the United Kingdom. I am assuring them that I will give out my best to make Ghana proud.

Any other information you thing is relevant and what people to know.

I love you all and thanks for the prayers and support, please give me same on the world stage to bring the crown home to Ghana. Thank You.
